beneath the white lid of snow over the north pole, light is patchy as the thickness of the ice varies. Some areas are covered in shadow, others lit with streams of light filtering down to the depths below. Regardless, everything is an eerie deep blue, occasionally punctured by the silver of a darting artic fish, or a moving shimmering shadow in the distance that is shoals of krill that live in these frigid waters.
